Connecticut State Police received a report of an active robbery at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at the Patco gas station in Litchfield.

Police said that the clerk reported a suspect walked in, passed a note demanding money and displayed a knife.

As the suspect exited the building, the clerk was able to provide a description of the vehicle he was fleeing in. That information was subsequently relayed to local police departments.

The suspect, Patrick Jaynes of Millerton in Dutchess County, was tracked down by members of the Thomaston Police Department on Route 254 near Innes Avenue, and he was arrested.

Jaynes was transported to Connecticut State Police Troop L, where he was charged with illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, larceny, robbery and breach of peace. He’s currently being held in lieu of $50,000 bond and is due to appear in Torrington Superior Court on Monday to answer the charges.
